What size bike? You know the question I have may not fit this thread but you kind of brought it up. I have seen most city buses with bikeracks on front. Why don't I see any lets say 250cc bikes on the front of a MH?
We use a 1-up rack for our bikes.
Rated for behind RV or Toad, etc.
Also weight rated for E-bikes.
They have a bunch of models with different weight ratings or fat tires etc.
They are 750 watt folding fat tire bikes from BPM Imports. We used to put them in the back of our suv. We now use a Thule Easyfold bike rack on the back of the motorhome. I use a Roadmaster 10” drop/rise dual receiver adapter for the bike rack and our tow bar. We love the setup and the bikes.
Here's my setup. Not sure how it would work with a rear radiator. It would be better if it was made to shift away allowing to check fluids, etc. My Thule 2 bike rack locks the bikes and a threaded bolt with lock on it's end secures the rack.
Well as I view things, the 200 lbs are not the only thing to consider. Most bikeracks I've seen while attached to the bumper actually place a moment of arm aft of the bumper. So there is the twisting moment to be considered. If the weight is 200 lbs and the moment applied is 12" aft of the...
I have 2 folding fat tire ebikes and no longer wanted to put them inside my suv. I wanted a bike rack setup where I could easily move the bike rack from the suv to the rig while on the road and when we know we’re not going to use the bikes for a few days. I decided on the heavy duty Thule...
When I was at Dan's Hitch (Elkhart, IN) a week ago I mentioned how my bike rack has a twist knob that minimizes the movement of the bike rack in the hitch. I noticed that the 2 inch tow bar going into my coach has play in it and wondered how to mitigate that. They mentioned some cuff but as the...
I'm glad I just stumbled on this post. I just ordered a bike rack and will be carrying three light weight road bikes on it.
I went back and forth trying to decide whether to cover them or not and finally decided not to just thinking of what could happen, and you just solidified it for me not to...
Nice work, make sure they are locked up as if that bike rack was Fort Knox!
Consider a 2-channel (forward/rear) dashcam in your toad so you can also have dashcam monitoring of the bikes. I have one in my toad.

I have a 2020 Freedom Express Ultralite 196RBS. I want to mount a bike rack (two bikes) on the 4x4 bumper. I understand the standard stock bumper is not constructed to handle anything being mounted on it. So I am planning to purchase a stronger bumper and having it installed along with extra...
Thanks for the reply. That would have been a good option however, I gave our aluminum Trec bikes to our son a couple of years ago. I’m starting with blank sheet. Appreciate it.
OK. A couple of things. One of the concerns is tong weight. Add 150 to the back will change the tong weight considerably. If you do this for bikes the wind pattern won't change much but other items may. It will be important to verify tong weight and make sure 10% of trailer weight is still on...
From everything I've read the front axle of a class A is usually the one that is over loaded and at max capacity, mostly due to the weight of the generator.. If that's true then I think hanging another 300-400 lbs off the front bumper might be the last thing you'd want to do. And remember the...
I use a receiver-type rack that came with my old D250 Dodge. It's not pretty but it works great. The truck has 2" receivers front and rear, so if I'm towing the bikes go up front. The rack is built out of heavy gauge steel with good welds so I don't worry about it breaking. Up until now it's...
I’m not sure the type RV you have but I have see front mounted receivers and you can put a rack on the front of your truck or possibly motorhome. I’ve never used one. We are still thinking about e-bikes and I may go this route for hauling the bikes.
From your considered approach, our experience might be blasphemous! Our primary criteria was a fixed bed with access from both sides. We found a USED 4 year-old Winnebago Minnie FL 2500 (?) for $19,000. Winnebago has a good reputation with the local RV maintenance experts, and in 3 years of...
