    Situational Awareness at all Times

This story is yet another reason why I no longer stay at Rest Stops, Walmarts, etc. Only campgrounds, BLM Land, or Harvest host type properties. Its a real shame what this world has become, but the facts are since 2020, camping in an RV has changed and the crowds of RV operators themselves are...

Harvest Host review "Starr Brothers Brewery" in New Mexico

I stopped for an overnight here on our way to the Grand Canyon for our first extreme hike (video coming), so I figured I would do a quick review for those thinking of overnighting there.

    Walmart Overnight

@sheridany have you considered Harvest Hosts? Safer in my opinion and a great experience visiting wineries, golf courses, etc. I've been to a few in great destinations out in the country with great views, very private and isolated, also some that were busy wineries and enjoyable.

Tip Don't give up on campground reservations

...this proved yet again as I was having a problem getting out of the Dallas area and heading east. I thought I was going to have to hop Harvest Hosts until Sunday and then find a place to stay for a few days until the already reserved next spot. Today I searched yet again as I needed a plan and...

Question What type of R.V. to buy

I can only vouch for the Harvest Host membership. When traveling, it's sometimes hard to find an open campground. Some even require two or more nights to reserve. Harvest Host has been great for finding places to stay along the way. The only downsize has been they are not always on or near...

Question How expensive is it to RV?

    1. Fuel and maintenance costs: Fuel you can't avoid. Preventative maintenance can be delayed to save $$ but it usually costs you more in the long run. 2. Campgrounds: Think your estimate of $50 is low by at least 50%. We save money by dry camping ($10 a night at the local Air Force Base) or...

    2025 Travel goals?

I don't like to make reservations early if I can avoid it as well. I'm worried if I do that then something is likely to go south somewhere enroute. If it's a popular destination then I have no choice. My Colorado adventure was one where it was hard in some places, or sites were not available and...

What to know about Ft Pierce Inlet State Park

I recently took my B class Tellero to Ft Pierce Inlet State Park and spend the night at a Harvest Host Winery (Summer Crush) very close by. I will be reviewing that Harvest Host stay in another video but here in the Inlet State Park ... if you are thinking of a good day trip while your in the area.

Planning our first ever big trip!

@bydnar feel free to use your referral link for Harvest Hosts. I'm all for people here that bring business to companies to earn commission on referrals so don't be bashful ALL. If you want to be clear it is an affiliated link that's up to you, we all want to help each other and HH does do...

Question Free Camping - Western States

...also more suited to your type of trip than 99 from Red Bluff to Sac Willows Travel center (I-5 and hwy 57) has good overnight parking Harvest Hosts is a good choice for “free” overnights (although you can end up spending some $$ at these locations) and they have a good on-line route/stop...

Where to stay on the road.

...using this method and have discovered some really nice parks doing so. I’ve downloaded half a dozen campground apps, but other than Harvest Hosts and KOA, I never use them, and only go looking for a KOA when I need full hook-ups and can’t find anything else. KOA CGs are dependable, clean and...

    Question Replacing house batteries

Well, there are a few concerns you need to be aware of: You'll no longer have to worry about low voltages or voltage spikes You won't have to worry about getting near 50% and killing your batteries You'll have to deal with increased storage and have to figure out where you put things When...

Where were you with your NEWMAR today?

Chateau de Pique winery , Harvest Host. Seymour Indiana. On our way to Nashville from Nappanee. Great half way stop location to overnight. Had Charcuterie boards and glass of wine. Delicious. Great quiet location in the country but only a few miles from hwy 65. T-Mobile home 105 down and...

What campground membership do you have and how are they?

We are big boondocking fans vs RV parks. So Harvest Hosts w the golf course option works great for us. Since some HH sites have noise/generator restrictions, our RV has solar panels and works great there.

Do you plan all stops in advance? What tools do you use?,

I did something a little different this trip. Doing approximately 5K miles in two months. I use Travel Wizard mapping software, I put in my leaving and arriving destinations. Then I get that route and log on to Harvest Host. If you are not familiar with Harvest Host log on to website...

Question What RV memberships, clubs, etc are you a member of (2024 edition)

...beginning I joined about everything. As of today I am probably only in FMCA until it expires, if it hasn't done so already. I let my Harvest Hosts expire but will probably pick that up again next year when I hit the roads. I maintained Good Sam for a bit as the discounts at CG's can add up. I...

    Question Bourbon trail for RVers?

I like visiting the micro distilleries I find along the way. This was one we visited in 2016, there was a brewery across the street. Andrea is not much for bourbon or beer but she enjoyed the tasting at both of these. No I did not need to carry her out. 😂. A lot we find along the way are...
