UNBELIEVABLE - please tell us we're right

...already getting a bit warm. 30 amp only. We couldn't run both air conditioners. Kept flipping. Barely could run one. We considered the soft start, but talked to some someone who told us not a good idea. Can't recall why. We decided it was just easier to stick to 50 amp campgrounds. This...

    A/C soft start units

...and it made a huge difference. Before the soft-start, our house lights would dim noticeably for an instant (kind of a blink). After the install, I never know when it starts. And, our heat pump service tech swears that using a soft start significantly improves the life of the compressor...

    Micro-air Easystart/Bluetooth

By replacing your startup capacitor with its much smarter electronics it lowers the amount of AC current required to start your air conditioner or heatpump by up to 60% to even 75%. So, let's say you are plugged into a 15 or 20 Amp circuit while moochdocking, you might be able to run one of...

Properly turning off your Dometic RV Roof Air Conditioners

Adding "soft start" to virtually any high-draw equipment is beneficial. We've had a large heat pump unit at the sticks-and-bricks for several years. Every time the unit started, the house lights would blink/dim momentarily. A couple years ago, the tech who does our annual service on the unit...

FYI Have to be careful with electric loads

...an option for an overnight stay while on the road. As mentioned previously the start up of the AC is where you are probably getting overloaded. Last time I looked Soft start makes a dogbone version of their otherwise "installed at each AC" device, might be worth a look for use while traveling.

    Dead batteries

You may need a full blown vehicle charger... sone "trickle chargers" wouldn't pump out much. I haven't tried this... butbif you can start your coach, or start your coach with a jump. Let it run...and check the voktage on the chassis on your digi-level display. When it gets up around 13+...

Any experience with suspension enhancement systems?

I start thinking if you feel it is soft on the ride a sway bar is in order. Soft meaning you feel the back end is kind of mushy and pronounced more so in curves. A nice big old sway bar from Helwig would be the key. Any soft ride (especially in corners ) would benefit most greatly from a good...

    Generator for travel trailer

Forget about a stand alone generator. Just get an F-150 PowerBoost HEV with the optional 7.2 kWh Propower on Board Generator option. You can even configure your tow to be fully powered with the air conditioners running in motion with minimal impact on MPG performance of the truck. The...

Bought a 2005 flagstaff trailer. Nothing works haha

...generators are notorious for being over-rated. And, some ACs have been known to draw more than their rated power on startup. Using the soft start device will significantly reduce your startup (surge) current (Wattage). It does little to nothing to reduce running Wattage. If I was looking...

    Generator/ AC power

...be able to get the second one started but most of the time you'll kick the breaker trying to start it. This is why some people buy the "soft start" kit for the A/C units. It keeps them from spiking the amps during the start so they can get by on 30 amps to run both A/C units. Without the...

2018-2022 Bay Star Power Cord Reel Install

After all that happened, I installed Soft Start on two of the most used AC’s. Tightening the lugs in the transfer box should be done once in a while. Also the AC breakers panel. I neglected it, and melted part of the panel $$$

Dometic Penguin II impossible to find

I moved my Easy Start over to the new unit. (Dometic Freshjet 5) It started the first time with a 30A surge. The last one was 15A. It runs at 12A...So LRA is only 3 more amps. Amazing contraption. I'm hoping they offer an Inverter friendly unit. Australia is installing Dometic Freshjet...

Question AC keeps cutting generator off after 7 mins

Unless you have a Soft Start on the A/C, on start up the A/C electrical draw is excessive. As the A/C motors spin up the draw is excessive, once running the draw declines to rated draw. On startup the draw may exceed generator capacity, especially if there are other items running, like fridge...

    Question Micro Air Easy Starts

Do you know if your charge bridge is working properly? It seems to me that the Lithium bridge may not be setup to provide the power to recharge. A simple test would be to start the engine, put on high idle, and remove shore power. THen without any demand on the system (ie: turn of front air)...

...Westinghouse from Walmart. It has a remote start feature and is quiet. However, it will not start my AC unit consistently so I am adding a soft start device. It is to much for me to pick up and put on my truck but I would not go smaller unless you get units that can be paralleled. Depends...

    Easy start

Hello @oldguy49 - yes, several of us use the MicroAir easy start (also called soft start) as you can find in searching this forum site. They are great but be sure you use the correct one for your setup. I suggest visiting the web site below to research if needed. https://www.microair.net/

MOD Micro-Air EasyStart for RV air conditioners

The previous owner had the soft start wired to the middle AC so it will run off the batteries. Last summer in the heat it was a very nice addition to keep the coach comfy when boondocking.

I have been thinking of buying a soft start kit, but since I went with a larger inverter generator I may not worry about it now.

Good point @JoeHogan makes. Understand the benefit if coach has solar of having soft start. @TJ&LadyDi mentions he was told easier on compressor when installed at S&B. What other advantages are there?
