...Indy car (grossly overweight). I've been to Quartzsite and loved it. I'd like to seek out more BLM lands when in areas that have those. HarvestHosts without the need for GEN runs.
I haven't boondocked much other than events like EAA AirVenture, Quartzsite, and ABQ Balloon Fiesta and those...
Headed out on I80. Have a scheduled stay at Harvest Host Team Combat Lazer Tag, Merriville IN. It was a 396 mile shot. Conflicting GPS coordinates. Rv spots are tight for bid rigs. We were only ones coming in on Saturday night so we able to park long ways and not unhook. It seemed not close of...
...up the work on the Wrangler this weekend so it's Toad ready. Then between now and July I'll try a few weekend trip to different local HarvestHosts to get used to the Toad.
** actually I guess I want to make a correction, it's not "planning a trip", it's "booked a trip". Not point sitting...
Hey All - Retired Navy and now in second career. Upgraded recently from a 2021 Forest River MAC 228D popup to a 2020 Forest River Forester 2861DS (Hooray for the outdoor kitchen!!!). Had to plus up due to various health issues (storage at ankle level was a non-starter - won't go into details)...
...Are campsites hard to find and book for big rigs? I have downloaded RV tip wizard, harvest host, and all stays.
Have you stayed at any harvesthosts? If we had an option we would prefer quiet and spacious locations and campgrounds.
We can’t wait to meet new people on the road and learn as...
At Halliday Winery in Martinsville Ohio. First Harvest Host stop. On the shores of beautiful lake Milton. Bought a bottle of wine, parked in golf course, and was serenaded by a great singer at a party. Look under the pavilion to the right of the singer you can see my coach.
...resale which is more of a concern to me than a high time generator. I have over 600 hours on mine and I'm on it now driving AC's on a harvesthosts stop in hot Texas. I am more relieved that my gen is exercising and being used and all the fluids are flowing. I use my OASIS burner regularly...
If it was me I would purchase a Level Mate. A lot of times you can move back and forth in the site and find a spot that is closer to level. I have one in my Class A and use it a lot to avoid excessive leveling. WE stay at harvest host and great for finding the most level spot to setup...
...I use the 40ft for the campground reservation. When you reserve a camp site they'll ask if you have slideouts, tow vehicle, etc.
I highly recommend the KOA value card, it saves you 10% for each reservation. Some like KOA's some don't, I do. The only other one would be HarvestHosts in my...
Found a church in Maria Stein thru Harvest Host. Parked in the overflow parking lot, got the Chateau "almost" level. Had a great weekend. Only downside was someone decided to park their car directly behind us. Great weather.
...890 about an hour before I want to stop, find something suitable, give them a call to reserve my site, and roll on in. I also have a HarvestHosts membership and I like the concept but don’t use it much.
For destinations, if I want to stay in a given area for a certain length of time (a week...
...However, calling your Host or canceling through the Request-A-Stay system is expected of all of our Members.
We have implemented a HarvestHosts No-Show Policy, and it is very important that you adhere to it. Please see the details below.
No-Show Policy:
The first, and subsequent...
Welcome from Ely, Iowa. We had our coach for a number of years before we retired and I found it very easy to work from. I really think I was more productive at times with the flexibility it gave me while working. I could be inside in an "office" setting or outside under the awning enjoying...
...and chatting with @redbaron about charge rates for LiFePO4 batteries I found myself shortly thereafter in a crisis. Boondocking at a HarvestHosts location, it's hot, and using this powerful new setup. I went to do some cooking and got an inverter 2 fault. Computer + Convection oven wasn't...
One of my overnight stops headed to Florida is around Houston, TX. Any strong favorites that we should stay at? I looked at Harvest Host and they have some farms and breweries before coming into the city limits of Houston. I prefer wide roads and paved pads if it available. :)
After a long day of traveling yesterday through storms, I was so happy to arrive at Tuscan Hills Winery in Effingham, IL. It is another wonderful Harvest Host location. Easy in and out for big rigs and the flatbread was delicious. Made some friends, drank wine and had a yummy dessert. Life is good.
Second stop Harvest Host, Martinsville IN. Hunters Honey Farm. They have over a thousand active bee hives. We had to drive 15 miles of back roads to get here but it was worth it. Put on 378 miles. I270 going around Indy was a pain in the butt.
I will post a few pics later, cell phone coverage...
@MapNerd have you considered harvest host as a layover option? It pays for itself pretty quick. Your kids will like it as some have friendly pets of all kinds.
We stay at Harvest Host, a rest area, and few Cracker Barrels but never at Walmart. I haven't been inside a Walmart in close to 40 years so I don't shop there so I don't say there.
