...our Yakima bike rack has been, a shell with a bike rack in the bed just made the most sense to me.
So I started looking into truck bed bikeracks this evening (I’ll probably go with the Advantage SportRack 4) but I happened across the Thule Insta-Gator and it made
me think of @Neal. If I...
I bought a rack like that used on CL for $40 for parts for the contraption Im building. It will be a little ugly, but it will carry the weight, be very lockable and have additional brake/tail lights and turn signals. Hopefully that will cover all the bases, accept appearance of course. I’d have...
I saw this post on a Facebook group discussion about putting a bike rack on a travel trailer bumper and though it made a nice segue from this discussion.
I had the AC compressor/clutch destroy itself and the belt in Boardman Oregon a few years ago. We were less than 1000 ft from the campground entrance when the engine shut down. Nice 105 deg sunny day....The bike rack made a nice work bench. Surprised to find a Freightliner dealer 12 miles...
E-bikes are going to be heavier than than a normal bicycle due to the additional weight of the battery , motors and beefing up of the frame and other components to support that.
The best way to carry them as a result, is going to be a either a heavy duty hitch mounted platform rack, or if you...
Can anyone share if they have successfully hung 2 bikes on these back garage racks. We have 2 - 45 lb each. E mountain bikes, but are worried that would rip those brackets out, travelling .
Well it’s been a while for this thread and I am now seriously contemplating a pair of E bikes, so I thought I’d revive it and see if there are any new ideas, lessons learned, regrets, recommendations, etc. I’ll probably buy in the next week or so and may take advantage of the black friday thing...
@10thtp We have RAD city step through e-bikes (i.e. full size bikes) and I use a Hollywood e-bike rack on the back of our toad. The bikes come it at 65lbs with the battery probably 5 or so lbs lighter without battery. BUT you don't have to lift 65lbs to get the bikes into the rack. I lift the...
Update 09/15/2022: So I had a piece of angle iron welded (1 by 2) to the bottom/back side of the 4x4 bumper. And this was welded to the I frame on both ends. In addition I had a 4x4 1/4 inch piece of metal welded on the top and front side of the bumper (this made my bumper crush proof). Next I...
We upgraded a brand new 22 Freedom Express 238bhs from Apex 193bhs.
We love the lay out of 238bhs. However, I have a question about rear bumper of 238bhs. It is too close rear wall, I can’t put the hitch on bumper for 1 bike rack and spare tire.
Please give me an idea how I can do rear bumper...
I have a Specialized E bike and being solo, I had to figure out how to get the bike on my Kuat rack. Luckily, you can buy a ramp that attaches to the rack and it makes it a whole lot easier. I believe you can buy a ramp for the Thule racks as well.
Be careful using a bike cover while traveling. I have a post here somewhere but I about took out a Love's truck with my bike when my bike rack failed. The bike rack vendor states not to use a cover for this very reason. It cannot withstand the wind pressure. You are at very high risk of killing...
Otterpods ! my two cents would the below recommendation
An affordable bike RV approved swagman rack for 4 bikes. While this rack is also a hitch bike rack but it’s different from Swagman's Traveler XC2 since the bikes hang in cradles secured by straps. Overall if you have to travel with more...
@Jim I'm with you. I just could not pull the trigger on the high $ versions of the e-bikes. We went with the RAD City Step thru model. Bought ours a couple years ago and love them. Bought a heavy duty bike rack that will hold both bikes from e-trailer. The bike rack mounts to the receiver on the...
Had a redwood name sign made at the Tampa show a few years ago and never really displayed it much because the massive "stick in the ground" mounting arm is rather cumbersome and on hard ground, unusable. Looking for an easier way to display it, I came up with this solution. Stainless 1/4 20...
...my bumper. Here is the answer that I got back from him:
The bumper and frame are not designed for installing aftermarket items such as bikeracks, cargo racks, etc. Issues arising from installation of such items become the installer's responsibility.
Can anyone tell me what your experience...
