New member looking for our first RV

Thanks for the responses. I surely have some research to do. I hadn't thought of those places. I will check them out. I'll search on some of the questions I have. That is what I used to do when I had my Jeep. I don't have issues working on the drivetrain. I don't have experience with...

    Problem Rear air

Thanks for this info. My new unit as well as the old one has the same gaps and leaks. The DW is on the way to the store to pick up some metal tape to seal them up. Also, thanks to @Neal for quizzing me on the "special gasket" that Newmar uses. It uses a foam divider to isolate the supply...

    Question Pop Ups??

Welcome! I'm relatively new to this forum, as we just got our travel trailer. But, we are former popup people (and we still tent camp too!)! I used to frequent another forum called "Popup Portal" that was wonderful when we had our popups! Might be another forum to add to your collection...

Question Ceramic coating worth it or not?

As you all know, I have spent a lot of time researching and talking about ceramic coating. Let me clarify briefly some of the major points of ceramic coating. * Protects the clear coat * By protecting the clear coat, it protects the paint * Replaces the need to wax. The purpose of wax is to...

    Question Pop Ups??

I also wanted to add, we didn't have an AC on our popups, and never felt we needed them. We did have bunkend fans, and heated mattress pads! They were used all the time! Worth the money!

    Newmar 2021 Motorhomes General Discussion

I think Newmar is getting a bit over priced and maybe the current times will curtail some of this. We all know the coaches are suffering quality issues and some are thinking twice about newing up wondering if new is going to provide equal or better quality than the old. I wonder if we'd all...

    RV Leaks

We bought a 2006 Coachmen Mirada in 2018. After a few months, I noticed that there was a soft spot that was developing in the linoleum in front of the toilet. Eventually, it cracked and water was coming up. I worried that it was a problem with the black water tank. I got up the gumption and...

    Campgrounds are getting expensive!

Long post. Please don't read if you object to long posts. If you want to save money on campgrounds and RV parks, then you are going to have to put a little effort into it. The easy way is to join half-price clubs like Passport America or spend lots of money to buy into outfits like Coast to...

Family of 4, lower 48 trip

Thanks everyone, I'll definitely give some more thought to your comments with my preliminary responses below. I could go to $50ish on an RV if I had to, but would prefer not to if I can. I see RVs, through private sales, in the $30-50k range that were made in the early 2000s and often have less...

FYI Solar 101 - A General Guide to Solar in your RV or Motorhome

Dear Neal-- Thank you for this informative Solar 101 discussion. I own a 2017 Ventana as well although mine is a 3709 model. I'd guess I have a little less room for roof panels but all I really need to do is run my Whirlpool residential size fridge which I'll bet is the same one as yours. We...

MOD LIQUID SPRING SUSPENSION-A NEW ADVENTURE!

Let me start by saying I know most in this group are the proud owners of Newmar "Diesel" Coaches! Yet, some of choose not to go that route, I being one of them. So, being a proud owner of a Newmar Canyon Star "gas" coach; like everyone else; I have the desire for the best ride & drive comfort...

FYI Solar 101 - A General Guide to Solar in your RV or Motorhome

Neal have one thing you should change. The solar Off-On switch should after the solar and before the solar charger. The panels can be turned off with no harm but charger can be hurt.

...and how all this comes together to provide the needed electricity for your coaches demands. In addition if you decide to add MicroAir Soft Start units to your air conditioners as some of us have done and do a little more electrical work you can actually run an AC off of solar which is cool...
