RV TRIP WIZARD has been THE BEST tool I’ve used over 5 years. Every trip is preplanned using it.
I will, then, double check the route suggested by my Garmin RV1095 which has the same desired features of your RM. If the route is the same…I’m done! Simple as that!
I’ve found no reason to go...
Sheridan,
I, almost always, will put my truck into gear and let it roll forward...with only a slight amount of pressure. That way, when I pull the release handles on the Nighthawk, it gives me a loose setup and the pins come out easily. I have all Roadmaster components, but would do the same...
BTW, I just stayed at THE BIG TEXAN RV RANCH and was very surprised! Clean and fresh; and didn't mind the extra freeway noise...I'd gladly stay there again.
Not sure if you meant "VEGA, TX", but no matter...I was curious to see what RVTW would suggest from Amarillo and can tell you THIS is the way we came out of Angel Fire when we drove east into Amarillo.
So, as mentioned, the road through Cimarron is a rural 2-lane through fields and past NRA...
Ah...you're referring to the monthly fee of $250, which only gets you 50GB.
BUT....LOOK AT THE HARDWARE; THE FLAT HP ANTENNA...it's $2500!
It's a real "gotcha" with the new "mobile priority" plans!!
I had a wireless engineer friend of mine give me the heads up LONG ago...and told me his clients...
We’re fine in SoCal.
Hillsides, Coastline, and BurnScar areas have major mudslides as usual.
No wind events, and nothing like Santa Anas. That’s when trucks have big issues.
We will be ok.
Sheridan,
I found this topic very interesting, and have learned a lot from wanting to "dig" a little further...it's been eye-opening; to say the least!
I just found this good page from ACLU...
https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/border-zone
It mentions the 100-mile concept you mentioned...
Before we get a lot of conjecture here, I think it’s wise that we reference the law for Border Patrol and not a simple Agricultural check.
So I went right to the source, CBP Customer Service.
and immediately found this quotation:
“Border Patrol checkpoints do not give Border Patrol Agents...
We went out East that road. A long road through the canyons. Only a few slow spots, as I remember.
Oh, I also recall there being a couple really low tree overhangs that made me shudder at the thought of coming through their in low light (or not paying attention”)! So keep your eyes UP as well.
The fact that border patrol can “Search” your “motor home” makes this a very disturbing and long, legal conversation. Gonna have to ask the question that applies to every “vehicle”; never allow a search and never allow anything to cause a visual reason for one. That’s the standard 2A training...
Angel Fire resort is great. If you come I from the south, be prepared for slow, tight turns that wind their way down into the valley. Totally doable with our 45’ and Raptor, but I look way ahead for oncomers who “don’t get it”. Still had to drag the rear wheels of the Raptor in the dirt a few...
Have been 100% YouTubeTV, YouTube, Netflix, Prime, AppleTV for years now.
All using our AppleTV with dual band cellular CradlePoint for service.
I use a TMO 5G gateway and ATT 4G/LTE sim for backup.
Zero complaints…aside from Google nearly doubling the price of YTTV! 😡
Doesn't matter; both RoadMaster and BlueOX are the "standards" if there is any.
I've used the Sterling and Nighthawk to tow my Raptor.
The failures I've seen have been from one of two reasons: hitting a dip bending the towbar, and catastrophic baseplate failures from loose bolts and cracked...
Sheridan,
The first one we saw was up in Brigham City, UT as we pulled out of the truck stop...AND I WAS FREAKED OUT at the clean new 'Camp Love's'!!! I was, like, "what the heck? a drive-thru, laundry, cornhole, tennis and pickell-ball court, dog park?" Almost made us have a second thought...
Agree, Sheridan. And, if it's NOT a dedicated Truck Stop, I instantly get nervous...especially with our Newell. This goes back to my post about "pre-planning" with something like the Garmin Birds-eye (satellite) view...which is done automatically for every stop.
Beyond height issues, I have...
Yeah Sheridan, it's the EFS system, but the term "TSD" has been used synonymously with the EFS card; so I knew what they were talking about.
BTW, I can still see your card number since your black highlighter wasn't set to 100% opacity. So, if you will be so kind to give me your Date of...
Sheridan,
Pretty sure you know this...but just in case....
I'm sure you have the physical TSD card, so you already CAN go to the TA/Petro stations...you just have to scan your card and do all the keypunching.
BTW, I always use the OpenRoads app to find the stations on my routes...and if...
