Last time it was the capacitor. That time it looks like it lost charge? From what I garner, paying to recharge and fix it, it will be close to the cost of a new one.
It lasted seven years. I hear some don’t last two years. So, my situation is:
#1 AC Caput
#2 AC E4 error code
#3 AC OK
Lucky for us, Michigan is nice and cool. Evenings 50-60F and days 70-80F
Mo money, Mo money……….?

My 2013 DSDP went thru a total of 7 Air units, each failing more than once. I would lose at least one per season, often two.

My 2019 DSDP lost 2 air units. After that, I installed the Micro-Air Easy Start. That was in June of 2020. Since then I have not had any problems, and we use them a lot. The units are always on, albeit a higher setting, when stored in the garage.

I really believe the Micro-Air is extending the life of the air units. I will be moving them to my new coach.

RedBaron, looks like you have become a specialist by now?
I have SoftStart on #1 and #3. Will try to get a AC guy to check it out and get an opinion, before replacing it.

Not Micro Air. The other brand that you don’t like.

We just had the compressor seize up on the center (kitchen AC). Replacement units (15M) run about $1,700…if you can find one. We are being quoted 6-8 weeks by both a local distributor and Dometic itself. Like everything else, the supply chain is all messed up.

Our coach is exactly 3 years old and the AC has not been heavily used. If we were keeping the coach, I would have MicroAir soft-starts installed but since it will soon be going down the road, I don’t think I’ll bother.

We do have a soft-start unit on the big AC/heat pump at the sticks ‘n bricks and the tech that recommended it several years back swears that it makes the units last longer.

Thanks TJ. I will see tomorrow if I can find a mobile technician to take a look. If not, I will drag myself up there and take a look.

Buly, find an RV salvage yard, and try to match up the failed unit with a used one. Why, with the new units being heavily digital in setup getting a 7 year old a/c unit to work with your existing T-stat is going to be challenge. Also, the used unit might not cost as much, and it will hook up to your t-stat just like it was new. Let us all know.

That’s something I never thought about. Will look at it. Thanks.
