Turned the key to start, dash meter showed dead short. (dumb me) I turned the key again. Now the key does nothing. I can't find a fusible link or a fuse. Any ideas?

How old is the battery? A shorted plate in the battery, perhaps?

TJ

Is there a fusible link attached to the battery? There may be some wires on the positive post. Easiest way to check them is just pull on the wire. I blown link will stretch. If there is one blown, you need to figure out why.

The new starter battery was defective. It had never been used. I returned it, got a new one. Everything works now. Thanks for the help. Must have been a shorted plate.

That guy "Murphy" is pretty crafty! He even provides new parts that are defective. Glad you got it sorted out.

That's good news! Makes a body feel so much better when things work like they should.
