There are tons of good choices out there. When we first started I went with a Reese rated at 20,000 pounds. It required drilling in the bed of the truck so I paid to have it installed (2011). I never like the Reese and had it jam up a few times.

This time around we went with a B&W Companion. They have several models and most are not the cheapest. It works perfectly each and every time and I truly love this hitch.

If I remember correctly you folks are also planning on changing trucks. You may want to consider getting a truck with the 5th wheel prep package and then getting a hitch that is made for that. For example, my F350 had the 5th wheel prep package and the B&W I purchased simply dropped down into the pucks that were in the bed or the truck. The whole install took about 30 minutes for me to do. No drilling and no paying someone else to install.

Thank you. We ended up buyed ram 3500 dully. The fifth wheel dealer recommended the anderson aluminum hitch. Light weight but has a ball. We will look at b&w. Thanks

Did you consider the Mopar hitch made specifically for your Ram 3500? Was your Ram 3500 spec'd with the 5th wheel prep package? Available in the parts department.

Yes ro part of prep package. Had not heard of mopar. Will definitely look into it. Thanx
If your 3500 has the 5th wheel prep pkg. then the parts department can get you a Mopar hitch that will drop right in. It's made for it! If you hadn't heard, Mopar is Chrysler's parts division. They make all sorts of aftermarket style parts for Jeep and Ram and Dodge.
