I believe the A/C fan comes on to help circulate the air.

Is it blowing out cold air or warm air? Isn’t it a dual system?

Is the AC a heat pump? if a heat pump, then normally you have to select that in addition to the furnace (at least on my rig) .

Your thermostat has fan settings. In order to not have the AC fan run with the furnace set the fan to AUTO. Anything else will make it run either with the furnace or all the time.
