I bought a used Kayak locally yesterday with due regard to room on the rack and my novice status. So what did I get? A very capable 14’ ocean Kayak for about 1/5 to coast of new and it matches the Admiral’s boat. Now we can paddle/row together. And when the tide is in I can launch about 30’ from our camp site.

I enjoy kayaking but not getting the kayak to/from the water. I bought a 12ft about two years ago and hardly used it, also because I prefer the tunneau cover vs ladder rack on my toad. If I did it over again I'd get a 10ft kayak. I did buy an Alpacka raft more for my plane as it's light and used it once so far as a test. I also bought an inflatable intex explorer k2 long ago and never used it. I brought it on my current trip and hoped to use it on Colorado but never did. Inflatable is probably the way to go for me simply due to my toad choice. Or renting one.

I looked at Intex and if I bought an inflatable thats what I would buy. I still might since they are easy to store and I have a compressor, but this serves the purpose for this trip. We are in a very wet area with lots of sloughs, rivers, and estuaries. I’ll stay out of the ocean for now.

Be forewarned @Neal has a long history of toting a kayak all over the country and even into snow country.

Anyone want a new kayak? Cheap? It's the one that has the please steal sign on it, one of a kind, rare, worth more than you can imagine....

Someone has a good memory and I can't believe I couldn't get that stolen!!!

P.S. it's in my unlocked crawl space!!!!
