Hello, first time member of any internet group, long time RVer.
We have a 2020 Sierra Flok 41 ft fifthwheel. We decided to boondock for the first time with a 12k generator we purchased through Home Depot. Everything seemed fine till this morning when the batteries were almost dead but I plugged the trailer into the truck and the batteries begin charging. This never happened on shore power......any ideas??

Do a search for similar questions.
The truck charges them thru the truck 12v system, separate from the 5thW...
The charger may have failed at an inopportune time....
Check fuses....
If you have any device like a watchdog in your flow, it may read an error like open neutral or ground. Depending on the charger, it may read it that way also. This is from the generator not being grounded to earth.
There are people in here with much more experience then I in electrical issues. Be patient.

Thank you, didn't consider the earth ground. But an electrician is coming by today to fix the shore power the landowner put in last minute. It was only providing 110 instead of 220 so we went with the generator last night.

They sell little plug in devices that go into a 120v outlet in the generator that "bonds" the ground. Others have pounded in ground stakes and run a wire to the frame. Your electrician will know.
