I have leaks from the connections of black and gray tanks into the release valve. Has anyone else experienced and is this an owner repair project?

Is this the gate valve leaking or is the plumbing before the gate valve leaking? You should have 2 valves, one for gray water and one for black water. If it is the plumbing, one can clean the area, likely where the pipe from the tank enters the gate valve, and seal it with PVC cement or PVC putty. If it is the gate valves that are leaking, then likely cleaning and lubricating are in order. Otherwise, replacement is needed. They will collect trash and not close completely.

Thanks. It was in fact the plumbing connections leaving the tanks. The repair was easy, replacing the 3” couplings by Valera from Amazon.
