Hello, I am looking at two possible travel routes from NE Pa to Middleborough Ma to see Cape Cod. One route shows I-80 to I-95 skirting the north side of NY city and following the coast along Long Island sound to Providence to 495 into Middleborough Ma.
The second route uses I-84 through Hartford CT to 90 to 495.
I am leaving Sunday morning around 7am and expect bout a 6 hr drive from Pocono Mtns to Middleboro with 2 gas stops.
Any input will be appreciated. I am leaning towards the 84 route, and I am pulling a 30ft trailer

I usually make at least one run to Maine from Tenn, per year.....I always run up 81 and pick up 84 to 90 to 495. Gmaps always wants me to go in thru Allentown and go up the coast.....no frigging way. Been in that mess a couple of times years ago. The last 3 or 4 trips to Maine and back have been a nightmare. Traffic has been just a mess.

84 is definitely the way to go. I wouldn’t go onto the cape on a Friday or Saturday. Crazy vacationer traffic. It’s very busy with traffic during the Summer season on any day but with Saturday being the usual rental changeover day it’s madness then

Thanks for the replies!!! I took 81 to 84 through Hartford to Middleborough Mass. The drive wasn't bad at all and went well. I would suggest the 84 route.mainly 3 lanes in CT.
