What is a recall?
When a manufacturer or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) determines that a vehicle creates an unreasonable risk to safety or fails to meet minimum safety standards, the manufacturer is required to fix that vehicle at no cost to the owner. That can be done by repairing it, replacing it, offering a refund (for equipment) or, in rare cases, repurchasing the car.

What should I do if my vehicle is included in this recall?
If your vehicle is included in this recall, it is very important that you get it fixed as soon as possible given the potential danger to you and your passengers if it is not addressed. You should receive a separate letter in the mail from the vehicle manufacturer, notifying you of the recall and explaining when the remedy will be available, whom to contact to repair your vehicle, and to remind you that the repair will be done at no charge to you. If you believe your vehicle is included in the recall, but you do not receive a letter in the mail from the vehicle manufacturer, please call NHTSA's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or contact your vehicle manufacturer or dealership.

Thank you for your attention to this important safety matter and for your commitment to helping save lives on America's roadways.

Got the email too, awaiting details.

Hmmmmm. The 2018 MADP is included in the recall year/model list, but I have not received a recall notice. I ran my VIN on the NHTSA VIN Lookup Tool website and the result was "VIN could not be processed." I'm guessing this means our coach is not included. I will find the recall VIN list and do a manual check just to be sure.

Thanks for the heads-up, @RandyB.

In the summary below, it sounds to me if you’ve already had the PDM replaced, you will be excluded from this recall. I’m further assuming all that were previously inspected and deemed “OK” are now getting the PDM replaced. A lot of assumptions on my part.

Newmar contact numbers and recall numbers below.

Copied from the recall details:

July 21, 2020 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V421000
Damaged Circuit Board May Affect Lighting Function
Non-functioning exterior marker lights can increase the risk of a crash.

NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V421000
Manufacturer Newmar Corporation
Components ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Potential Number of Units Affected 2,005
Summary
Newmar Corporaton (Newmar) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Ventana LE, 2017-2020 Ventana, London Aire, Essex and Dutch Star, 2017-2019 Mountain Aire, 2018-2020 New Aire, and 2020 Kountry Star motorhomes that received the 'inspection-only' remedy from recall 19V-426. The rear mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM) may have been damaged during manufacturing, possibly resulting in the rear marker lights, brake lights, or turn signals not functioning.
Remedy
Newmar will notify owners, and Daimler Trucks North America dealers will replace the PDM, free of charge. This recall is expected to begin September 19, 2020. Owners may contact Newmar's customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is 20V-404.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Has anyone been able to get this recall action performed? Recall 20V421 or FL campaign FL856. I contacted Daimler Trucks shortly after my original letter on Sept 3 and they said i needed to wait for ANOTHER notification saying the parts are available. Still haven't seen the follow up.
I want to get my annual service done, be nice to do this at the same time.

Thank you. ?

So I presume no one has gotten the follow up notification about parts being available so we can schedule service?

I have not. Had mine tested after first recall & Freightliner said I was good to go. Got first notice a few weeks ago. I bet it will be after the first of the year before the second notice arrives.
