Can someone tell me about slide out covers. I just bought new 5th wheel with 3 slides. Should I get them. thank you and Happy new year to everyone.

Welcome. I think they are well worth it. They help to keep junk off your slide. They also can keep water from pooling on the slide roof. On the other side, it makes maintaining the seals on the slide roof.

On balance, since the slide roof sealant is not in direct sun, they may last longer.

I have them on all of my slides.

I don’t have the covers. Haven’t convinced myself to spend the $3,000. for 3 slides. But I do go onto my roof the morning of any move and clean them off.

The wife gets panicky every time I go on the roof since we don’t have a back ladder. But, I count that as a plus.

We don’t have slide covers on any of our 4 slides. Each trip I pull out a ladder and clean off the top. Sometimes it is clean, other times needs sweeping and occasionally needs to be washed to get grit off.

We don’t move sites every few days, but tend to stay in a spot for an average of a couple months. If we moved more often, slide covers would be nice as it would save 10-15 minutes for each tear down cycle. Just don’t see that much value for our use.
