I owned a 2014 dutchstar had problems with the upholstery. I just bought a 2017 Dutch Star and have the same issue. The worst part is they do not stand behind the product. They said after three years they’ll reimburse you 50% of the cost of the upholstery BUT only if you buy it from them which cost twice as much as if you had it done on your own. In other words they do nothing about it.
After spending So much money On a Dutch Star, you think the upholstery would last at least 10 years , they only think it should last 3 years

My 1999 Dutch Stars upholstery is still factory perfect. Of course it's real material. That's all chairs and couch. Guess we're lucky

My 2017 is holding its own….but know of others with the same year who have had issues. I wonder why. Unless we use ours less…or because it is stored under cover. I might be doing something right but don’t know what that might be.

I suspect our day will come….

The fabric coverings (dinette booth and couch) jn our coach are still in good shape. The leather on the pilot/copilot seats and loveseat is still in great shape, no cracking or flaking. Back then they used real leather or close to it?

Sadly, you are correct……

Had our first set recovered by Newmar after two years. Two years later it needs to be done again. And we are careful folk who do not abuse anything and always protect the interior from sunlight.
Having ours redone on our dime with REAL material in two months.

The closest your seats will ever come to leather is if you happen to hit a cow. Our '16 is showing some flakes on the driver and passenger captain seats.

Since the 1st of the year I have had all the upholstery redone on our 17 DS. Newmar stepped up and covered it 100% even though I am the 2nd owner. The material chosen was the premium Brisa Ultra Leather which is not really leather but much much better than the original material. Newmar delivered the material and skins direct from Bauer Upholstery and I had the two Captains Chairs and couch redone locally which Newmar reimbursed me. The dining chairs and folding chairs where shipped out brand new. I received one new recliner and am still waiting for the second to arrive. A little ordering snafu. The recliner is made by R.E.M. manufacturing and almost identical to the Flexsteel. I am not completely satisfied with the new recliner as it doesn't seem to latch in the down position as it should. Will continue to work with Newmar on that issue. I must say Newmar has been very accommodating through the whole process. It has taken since last summer to get this far along.

Hi
I just read your post. Is your newmar a 2017? I have a 2017 dutchstar and they will only pay 50% if i buy the upholstery from them at double the price that Bauer sells it for

Yes it is. The original purchase of the coach had an option for upgraded furniture. Perhaps that is why the difference. Or due to the timing because as I said my re-upholstery negotiations began in May of 2021.
