Hi, my name is Mike and I’m new to this site. I purchased a Tiffin Phaeton last spring. I camped locally to get the hang of setting up and closing the Motorhome before I take a longer trip. I want to go to Yellowstone this year but I don’t have a reservation yet and I’m wondering if I will find a place to boondock near Yellowstone without one and just drive my toad into the park. Has anyone been there and is it imperative that I make a reservation first. Thanks.

When are you planning your trip?

we made reservations, for West Yellowstone, last november...yes, November. Found a lot of places already booked; now we are not staying inside the park; we are staying at Grizzly RV in West Yellowstone. Fortunately my wifes cousin is very knowledgable and alerted me(November) not to wait. Also found a lot of the RV parks(around Tetons) were closed unable to confirm dates until March. Can't answer boondocking question, i just dont' know; we are traveling from east Texas in July to Yellowstone, Tetons, then back thru Utah. Hope you find some places and enjoy

Thanks. I’m finding out I need to make reservations the year before. Did you like Grizzly RV park, also, were you pulling or do you have a class A?

We are staying this July in Grizzly RV park; will be pulling our 30' Keystone Hideout. Spending ~4 days in West Yellowstone, 3 days Grand Tetons, then down to Bryce, Arches, and Zion parks in Utah. Our son relocated to Salt Lake city, this past September, so he/fiance are meeting us in West Yellowstone, along with another family member.

Sounds like an awesome trip!
