On the CanyonStar V10 the oil filter is directly above the front axle. Consequently during oil changes it gets messy. I've thought to punch a hole in the oil filter and drain it, but the oil filter mounting flange still drips after the filter is removed.
I've seen people employ these formable funnels to good effect.
My current practice is Pig Pads and a cut off gallon plastic container to catch the filter and drips. My only complaint is managing all the pieces takes time and is not fool proof. Managing a partially filled gallon plastic container balanced on the front I beam is tiresome.
The funnel might allow me to position the catch container on the ground.
