2022 F.R. Wild cat 5th wheel. Newbie full timer looking for wisdom of experience on a couple of issues.

I’ve read the reports of water damage from bursted pipes or facets coming on and RV’s flooded and ruined. I’m trying to figure a way to remind me when leaving to turn off the water. I’ve tried putting a bright ribbon on my steering wheel but, frequently, I forget to set up the ribbon when parking when we come home.

Another challenge I have is when setting up at the new park is there a magic way of knowing on the front stabilizers how much do I let out the legs that slide into the bigger legs for best stability. I’ve had times where I thought it was set but after leveling the front legs “creak” so much I have to close up, reattach to the truck and change the settings to repeat the leveling.

We have a checklist, affectionately known as “the idiot check”. It includes things like looking under the rig, locking the fridge, visual on the jacks, all baggage doors, utility connections, vents - all that stuff. So you could make a custom checklist that you use every time you move the rig and maybe save yourself some ofher headaches as well. On leveling, I’m not well enough versed on 5th wheel equipment to comment.

As far as turning the water off when you leave your rig unattended, sometimes we remember to do it and sometimes we don't. I can assure you that probably 80% of the RVers out there never do it anyway, so if you forget now and then you are still ahead of the game IMHO.

With the leveling I can't help because all of our 3 fivers we have had were equipped with auto level.
