Happy Saturday everyone!

We have an RV out on our property that never moves. We got it primarily to have a place to stay when we get away from the house on weekends and spend a quiet weekend out on our land (in the middle of nowhere) and have some peace and quiet. Prior to the RV, we slept in the back of our trucks. Another reason for the RV was to have a place to clean up and "do our business" instead of digging a hold in the woods. Wife much appreciated that one.. ;).

Anyway, I had a cheap macerator pump for about a year hooked up to the wastewater outlet on the RV and stretched the hose out into the woods and pumped it all into a hole I'd dug with the tractor. That pump gave out after about a year, so I decided to step it up and buy a new Floject macerator pump.
Was hooking it up for the first time this last weekend, and I noticed that when I connected it to the RV battery, it would "click", but not come on / spin. So I brought it back home thinking maybe I didn't have the wire connections making good contact in the crimp connectors.

I got it out today and redid the connections, this time using twist on caps. I made sure the wires were solidly connected. I hooked it up to a 12v batter I have here at the house, and again, it clicked. When I say "clicked" in this instance, I mean I could feel it "jump" a little, but it did not spin. So I took the cap off the back end and got a screwdriver and manually turned the shaft. I noticed it was hard to turn and when it did spin, it made a pretty loud rubbing noise and then an occassional "popping" noise like plastic catching then spinning around again, then catching again. I hooked up the batter again, and I got it to turn, but VERY slowly, and as it spins, it made the same plastic popping noise.

As I said, it's brand new, so it's not "mucked" up with "stuff" and frozen that way.

Is this normal? What else would you suggest? Floject is only open weekdays 8:00 to 8:00, so I'll be calling them Monday. Just thought I'd try here first.

thanks!

Ken

The pump will die if it is run dry! Don't worry they'll know what you did if you did.

It sounds like a cracked impeller, broken poo seal or one of the permanent magnets has broken free from the inside of the motor housing. II would return it then bench test (with water) the replacement before taking it into the woods hoping it's ready to go.
