Gelcoat restoration

Hello, I’m new here but have some questions I am really hoping to get answered! My dad just bought a used camper, and the fiberglass was faded and chalky looking. So after some research he bought a product to remove the oxidation and restore the shine. He used to product as the directions said and it looks great in the shade…but in direct sunlight it is just streaky as hell. I am worried that it can’t be fixed bc it’s a gelcoat type product he used. Any advice on where to go from here? Can it be fixed without sanding possible? I would really appreciate any advice! Thank you!!

I did buff out the gel coat on an older rv. I used a high speed buffer and then a polish that remove the swirl marks, then a good coat of wax. Looked good for a about 2 years then had to repeat the process which was a lot of work.

I will also say that each time this is done you are removing some of the gel coat.

I had several where the gel coat was dull and streaky. Usually when that happens there is not much of a gel coat left.

What I used was Zep High Traffic Floor Finish. I used it on a class A, a travel trailer, and my plane. It made it look like a clear coat again.
