We are setting here watching the morning news sipping our morning coffee, Waiting for the workers to show up who are putting a new drive beside our house for our travel trailer. Where we store is a very nice place but having it here is much more convent for us. We already have a 50amp hookup.

Good morning! Lucky you, always nice to have your RV at home with you.

The storage place where we have been storing it is a nice place with water, sewer, air. 120 electric, and covered storage. A really nice place. But after the added drive is finished and we get a car port for it we will have the same here with a 50amp hookup and it will be real handy when getting it ready to travel, are doing any maintenance on it. I'm sorta excited about it and so is my wife. Skip

Oh, you'll love it at home. Just not the same having to drop it off at some storage lot. Now- what about the two ends? Pretty useless to have covered storage if both ends are exposed- which we found out the hard way. What we did was buy two canvas tarps and hang them on each end with bungies or twine. Tarps are not cheap. But we got them pretty reasonable at a place called the Chicago Canvas Co. if I remember right.

Hey, that's great! I think you're going to enjoy having your baby at home.

Heres few pics of our home RV storage I built last year with the help from a couple friends, and hired concrete finishers and stucco guys. The gate was my own creation with a steele frame, home designed and built hinges and $1200 worth of vertical grain fir. I added full hook-ups but also wanted it uncovered to take advantage of my RV solar which keeps everything running nicely. Still more to do but thats the nature of home improvement.

I made the gate opening 12’ wide which seemed like plenty at the time. But I lost a few inches with sheeting and stucco and at the outside edges of my mirrors Im 121” wide. So 12’ makes it a little tight. Should have gone 13-14’. Just something to think about. Also put in all the underground (elec conduit, water, sewer) you think you’ll need now. I put in a lot but missed one small section of electrical and now I get to cut a 3’ strip in the conctete under the side gate. Always lessoned learned doing this stuff.

We moved last September and have room to park our MH, much better having it here. Plan to soon have a cover to park under and power. I will make sure the cover is large enough for potential future upgrade. 😜

Beautiful gate...very nice set up. When I saw the grapes I thought perhaps you were in our neck of the woods (Santa Barbara County)...but now-a-days there's grapes everywhere 😉 Looks like you did a 6 inch pour...nice pad. Blessings...

That looks great. Mine will be open but I really like your setup.

That gate spent more time on the drawing board that in construction. The hinges were the biggest challenge since there is nothing commercially available that would work. I had to design them to fit the application and fabricate them. The opening has 6x6 posts built in but I centered them on the opening side of 14” square pillars and should have held them to the inside or outside, so the hinges had to be longer on the bottom half. More lessons learned.

The woodworking part was just pure pleasure. I finished every surface before assembly to make sure it was all sealed well. Also building the frames was fun. Im not a welder (had to borrow one) but did some body work in my youth and went a little overboard on the finished product.

We are in SW Nevada county (1200’ elev) and part of a 160 ac vineyard that serves a local winery. We’ve only been here a few years but the winery started about 30 years ago. Our grapes, Petit Verdot and Petit Sirrah are about 15 years old and in their prime.
