Hello everyone; I am new to the forum; have been camping two years now. Started with a Heartland 28’ and moved to the Outback 38’ RL. Headed out west on May 4: Rushmore, Glacier, Yellowstone, Arches, Tetons, Grand Canyon, and who knows what else. Currently have sites booked through June 6. Hoping this will help me decide to go full-time. Open to advice about routes/parks as I have never been to Wyoming, Montana, Utah, or Nevada. Looking forward to it; wife of 32 years and I are ready to go! I look forward to interacting with the members of this forum.

Welcome.. here is a possible path below. I made a very similar trip years ago. On this path you will pass the largest drug store in the word. ‘Walls drugs” in walls SD. The KOA at Mt Rushmore was pretty good “back then”. I went on to see Devils Tower since it was on the way then headed to Red Lodge Mt. to visit family. “I did not put this on the route”. We ended up going through Beartooth Pass which is pretty steep and switchbacks. To get into Yellowstones north entrance. We then went to Jackson Hole Wy. And went to the Millon Dollar Saloon. Over a million dollars in silver dollars embedded into the bar. We camped at Bear Lake ID. Which is pretty nice and on the norhern park of the lake they have hot springs you can bath in. On to Ogden Utah and the Great salt lake, plus Hill AFB “I was stationed there in the 70’s” where now they have an aircraft museum. From there on to Arches National Park, but there is Zion’s, Painted Rock, Dead Horse Point, Needles, all around that area to see. BTW; you are actually at the beginning of the Grand Canyon there.

hope you guys have a lot of fun....

Thank you! I have been told Jackson Hole is a “must see“ destination so we will go there while camping near Yellowstone. The road with switchbacks: what route number is that?

Hwy 212, the Beartooth Hwy. it comes out of Red Lodge Mt. South. Beautiful country. This is also the area where the US olympic downhill ski team practiced. It is doable. I had a 36ft 5th wheel and a F350 diesel dully 4 dr long bed at the time and went up without a problem. A bit scary riding near a straight drop off, and I am not sure if I would want to go down it. Might burn your breaks up.

Welcome to one of the best RV forums around!

We have sketched out a "partial" out west run this summer and I recently included Beartooth pass in it. We want to ride our Harley through that area since it is suppose to be one of the most scenic highways in the U.S. We would be in that area around the end of August probably. When he was there it was the first of July and snow was still packed up on the sides of the road about 8' high. Gets pretty cold up there even in the summer I'm guessing.

Hey Joe, Don't forget Lolo pass or your Go Pro.
