Hi all!
I am new to this forum. And I'm planning my first trip to the RV.
Rented 23CB Leprechaun (25 ft) Family of four - two children (2 years and 12 years old) We live in Los Angeles and want to travel 7 days from January 3 to January 10. want to visit Sequoia Park, Carmel by de si, San Francisco and all which is of interest. But! .. I am alarmed by the weather ... Share your experience of such a trip in winter.

Carmel & San Francisco are perfectly fine in an rv in January. You could very well get rain but that’s about all. There are very few rv parks near SF. There is a new one on the east side of the Dumbarton Bridge that is pretty well located:

There is a nice little KOA at the Moss Landing Harbor that is only about 15 minutes from Carmel.

thanks for the answer!
Do you think it's worth going north of San Francisco? We want to visit Grant Pass Oregon as we are choosing a moving location and want to see a few houses before buying. We can easily abandon this venture on the RV and then fly off for inspection.

No way to do all you want in 7 days. Carmel/Monterey & SF plus the drive from LA is more than enough alone. Too much to see & do.

Do you think it is better to start in Sequoia Park, Sacramento, San Francisco and then walk down the coast through Carmel by the Sea to Los Angeles?

Not a good time to be traveling in the mountains

Look, Sequoia/Kings Canyon are not the best place to rv in the winter:

Here are the average temperatures broken down by month from December through February.

December: Average high of 36° F, average low of 17° F
January: Average high of 37° F, average low of 18° F
February: Average high of 36° F, average low of 16° F

Skip Sequoia and concentrate on Carmel/SF. And where did Sacramento enter the conversation??

Good Luck!

I have good experience in driving a truck and a trailer in various weather conditions. The only thing that worries me is the weather for walking and parking with children. We can easily abandon the northern California trip and head south. Can you tell me what route can be made from Los Angeles for seven days?
