I'm a travel RN and am looking into fifth wheel living/travel with my wife and two small (10 mo and 3 years old) children. A little nervous but also very excited about living this lifestyle. Anyone else who's been doing this awhile who was also nervous at first? Nervous about hooking up a fifth wheel, the challenge of pulling the camper, navigating, driving, parking etc? How long did it take you to become comfortable and proficient at it? I'm just getting started here so I'll be reviewing past posts but if anyone is so inclined, I welcome encouragement!

Welcome to RVF, @TelecasteRN; glad to have you join us here. And, welcome to the RV life.

I think you will do just fine! As a RN, you are used to following procedures and solving problems. Hooking up and towing a 5th wheel trailer is just that; following procedures and (occasionally) solving problems. We pulled a 5th wheel for more than 15 years in our pre-motorhome life. While there was a learning curve when we first started, it was not all that steep and soon we were comfortable doing it.

My suggestion is to "stay within your comfort zone" as you learn. Take your time and develop (and follow) personal procedures that builds your confidence. It won't take long to find your "comfort zone."

Finally, please accept our sincere thanks for your health-care service. We understand that being on the front lines during the pandemic is challenging and we appreciate all those who step up and work to protect us. Thank you!

I've rented out my extra room to TN's. I loved them all!

That's what I'm doing now. AirBnB. But I miss my family terribly and want to take them with me wherever I go and make it, rather than work, more of a family adventure. My wife is gung ho and the 2 year old and 10 month old are pretty much down for anything! LOL
