We both have had rv's in the pass now we want to start travel and camping again. (O, the "SO" stands for significant other) Thinking of a Class B or B+ that Dot would be comfortable driving. I'm looking forward to this forum

Welcome @Jerry WW - great to have you with us.

Thanks Neal, this forum will help form our decision on type of rv for us.

Never too old to get back into the fun rv life. Welcome from another Jerry!

I like your style, Jerry. There are some very interesting Class B/B+ RVs out there. We are still in our 40’ Class A at almost your age, but the time will probably come to downsize one of these days. Don’t have much experience...yet...with Class Bs, but like the idea of the ones on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis. We had a Class C on the larger Mercedes Sprinter chassis and it was great; easy to drive, good power in the hills, trouble-free, etc.

Good luck on your search.

Welcome. I hope I will be still able to do this at 84. (y)

I think you are looking at this very practically.

The advantages of a Class B are many. You and your SO will more than likely both be comfortable with handling the rig. It helps to have the controls of the Class B match more closely to your daily driver. As we age —- we rely more on muscle memory as cognitive response times naturally get slower. Heck...I already notice a difference at 61. Many of the large rigs have a totally different feel to them...both due to the size and weight...but also control layout, where the pedals are in relation to your seated position. If you don’t spend most of your time driving a large RV, then you might not feel that comfortable driving one as much as a Class B.

These units get much better mileage. They are diverse in what you can do...like RV parks, off-grid at Harvest Host or similar, and even docking in a friend or family members driveway. Many campgrounds offer better choice of sites, when not restricted by length. Many B’s come with macerators on hose reels to make the sanitary job less work, and possible to do thru a standard Dump site or simply a sanitary sewer clean out next to ones house.

There is always something new and exciting to see when you RV...

Welcome to the Forum and happy hunting for the perfect Rig to suit your needs.
