Hi, I’m Garvin, and I’m looking to learn more about RV ing. I would like to see about joining a local group. At this point I’m thinking about buying a travel trailer.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard Garvinww. I'm sure you are going to find plenty of folks here that are willing to share their knowledge and offer you advice.

There is lots of advice on line both here at other places. One source that I've found useful is RV Wingman..

Welcome aboard... research research.. and then when you think you are done.. research some more. Anytime I'm looking for an RV, I always end up with a spreadsheet so that I recall the tradeoffs of each model and can easily compare.

Manufacturers... bend the truth about everything. Weight specs on travel trailers are almost always for a mythical base model that doesn't exist and will never be sold. Vehicles (rv/truck/car) with engines always seem to have pointless numbers such as 'towing capacity', and hide the important numbers. These are just a couple of examples, there are plenty more.

If any specs are important to you, you'll need to get real numbers somehow. For TT's a tongue scale is a cheap investment in peace of mind IMO.
