Lake havasu Arizona

Hi we're leaving for Lake Havasu Arizona and we like to know if anybody is traveling from Minnesota down that way that knows the best route

The most direct route would be I-70 through the Rockies. However, this time of year the snow is flying! I would go down to I-40 and go across to Lake Havasu and avoid the high mountains.
