What is needed to replace the lead acid batteries with 4 100a lithium batteries In a Baystar? The Newmar owners manual discourages changing from lead acid to lithium batteries.

Not sure there is much to do depending on the year of your rig, except to check on the capabilities of your charger….

I believe you will need to change out the BIRD to a lithium compatible one. Also, depending if you have a inverter charger or converter, you will need to change the settings or converter.

Cheers!

You also really need a shunt based battery monitor to properly tell your charge status. The victron smart shunt is a good choice as it’s easy to install and use.

I agree with the the above points. I also replaced my BIM, but I figured my 8 batteries could draw on the alternator. Not sure 4 batteries would. But never a bad idea to do.

And although a smart shunt is a great addition, it is not required to swap out the batteries. I have the smart shunt ant love it.
