How long will 40 lbs of gas last in a 21 foot trailer when using just the refrigerator and furnace? Fridge is 8 cubic feet. Evening temperatures mid 30s.

That depends on the insulation in the trailer. I'm guessing you mean 40 pounds? 40 gallons is almost two 100 pound tanks.Generally I figure a tank (40 lbs) per week in conditions like that, but I have a residential fridge and a 38' trailer, so your usage will vary. Keep an eye on the first tank to be used. That will give you an idea how long the propane will last.

How cool do you like your beer? How often will you get your cold one. What temp is comfortable to you and how cold is it outside. How often will you open your door to go out and have a smoke?

I get it that you may not smoke. I get it that an Arizona Iced Tea may be your beverage. but the idea is everything you are accustomed to doing will change the amount of propane you use. This post is in addition to @Gronk 's post above. And the real answer is in time you will find how much propane you use, and it will not match how much others use.

Gronk and others are spot on. Are you setting the temp during the night at 70 or 60? How well is the trailer insulated? Have you added any extra protection, like pieces of fitted insulation board up in the ceiling fan openings and skylights? These are all huge factors when trying to heat or cool a metal box with single pane windows.

My estimate would be you might get up to 4 days with night temps in the 30's but I would be shocked if you got much more. The problem is if you are just running one tank they always seem to hit empty around 2am.

I will be taking a 2 day trip with similar circumstances next week. Hopefully that will help before I do the 2 weeks in Yellowstone.

It is already warm here in my area and even with 80 degree days, the nights are still dipping to low 50’s. The other day at the campground we ran the AC at day and at night the temps inside the TT dipped to low 60’s. Simply used the electric fireplace to keep internal temp to around 70. Could have used the gas furnace but instead of using propane we used the electric. If it had been a lot colder then used both. Point being, your TT like others stated, if like most from the factory are not too well insulated unless you bought one that was specifically built that way. Propane usage varies by ones comfort and need. Good luck.
