To make a long story short, I dropped my Class A off at a local RV dealer for a full generator service, brake inspection and front hub inspection.

When I picked up my Class A six days later I was charged $314 for a basic generator service, engine oil change and a visual brake inspection.

I picked up my MH on Tuesday afternoon.

On Wed afternoon the lady that took my $314 and handed me my keys calls and tells me my RV is ready to be picked up.

What a bunch of clowns.

Im getting another appointment at another dealer. I have zero confidence that a proper brake and hub inspection was conducted. The brake inspection was on the invoice but I was not charged for it. Hub inspection is not on the invoice.

Im going to be in some big mountains this summer, 7% grades in some areas. Im not skipping on brakes.
 
Maybe a truck PM service facility would have better results.
 
Not sure what year coach you have. On mine they can inspect the brakes by looking at the rear of the wheel.
 
I guess for me it would depend on what coach you are talking about as far as deciding if you let any RV dealer do engine/chassis/generator service. When we were in our 37' gasser I was comfortable letting a large RV dealer do most stuff, even though I would annually change my own oil/filter. However, in our DP I always utilized a regular Freightliner/Cummins Service Center for all my maintenance needs.
 
One of the reasons I choose a Workhorse chassis with the 8.1/Allison was for ease of maintenance.

The Allison has a spin on filter and a drain plug, something Ford transmissions do not have.

I generally do all my own maintenance but as I get older my back does not allow me to do the physical things I did in my youth.

Our departure is delayed a week because I have a follow-up with the back doc after the epidural I got last month.

Im guessing that the tech just didnt want to wrestle with the wheels, so he didnt. A quick look over and a thumbs up.

I think there is a problem with the left front brake. It stops but makes an odd noise and the pedal pulsates slightly. Im guessing a bad ABS sensor, but no light on the dash.
 
My $0,02, RV dealers are for the most part retailers not maintenance people. The shop primarily functions as a prep shop for new inventory. They will do the warranty work but usually not very well. Now before you start slamming the keyboard, there are some excellent dealerships like NIRV but they are rare. If you need chassis maintenance go to a truck chassis shop, generator service is hard to come by as no one wants to touch them. Engine oil change depends on the RV, gassers can be taken to any truck shop, DP is more complicated but chassis mfg should handle all the drive train and chassis work.

this is a long way of saying the dealers sell RVs, don’t trust them with even routine service.

To bad they don't take your picture with the order. They would then know that they already served you, rather than just calling numbers they are handed.
