As you have discovered, @Neal; not all of Arizona is superheated desert. Sedona, Flagstaff, etc. is where Arizonans go in the summer to get away from the heat. They go to Phoenix, Casa Grande, Tucson, etc. in the winter.

if you become the caravan leader for the 2021 Alaska trip you will be well suited to leave heading north on Sep 1st, 2021. I on the other hand will be southbound crossing the Canadian border on that date

Part of our Christmas tradition the past 5 years has been to ride on Christmas day. With the forecast for 80 degrees this afternoon we should be able to continue.
