Acquired a 2004 Fleetwood Southwind and drove it last week from Seattle to Tennessee. Things went fairly well except my choice of direction when I left the Seattle area. I chose to go east on I90 then south through Wyoming to Kansas ETC. Bad choice cause of the snow storm. But beyond that I did successfully arrive after 5 days.
RV is 20 years old but runs great. When I picked it up I noticed exhaust leaks behind the muffler I need to get fixed. Also the passenger side mirror decided to part ways somewhere in Wyoming. I did not hit anything. It was very windy and I heard nothing g and only noticed it after I looked to my right and lo and behold it was gone.
I ordered one which will arrive tomorrow from RV northwest or something g like that. It looks easy to put back on but I want the wires to be connected so the switch inside will adjust it for me from the drivers seat. Which means wires will have to be fished out of wherever they are behind the body.
I woukd like a professional to mount it properly because the one that departed company looks like it just pulled out of the mount.
But so far the RV service places I have called won’t do work on a RV over ten years old.
When I call Fleetwood customer service I sit on hold every time. Then it says leave a message and then hangs up on me. So far they have not called back.
Any suggestions on where I can have an older RV serviced.?
Thanks in advance. I’m it the west Tennessee area.
The third photo shows the result of the departed mirror.

Thanks I had considered going to a local RV park, to see what others do, I got my RV home in Tennessee from Seattle. I’m kind of anal about taking care of vehicles so I get good service from them. I have contacted some mobile service people who I am told will come to you. Hope i can make some progress maybe when the work week starts

The wires for the passenger side mirror should be visible from either the foot well in front of the seat or tucked up under the dash.

That’s helpful. Mounting the mirror itself should not be hard. The screw holes look like they just gave way and the mirror got torn off. I was thinking that maybe this mirror had been replaced before and the wires were not connected. Leaving the mirror to be adjusted by hand. I thought it would be easy to put some metal anchors for the screws instead of just trying to put them in the holes expecting the fiberglass panel to support it. But my concern was how to fish those wires out to connect them for proper operation, anyway the new mirror should be delivered tomorrow

On my Fleetwood, they cut a hole in the wall on the driver side to mount the mirror. The wires are fed through to the mirror motor. I know this because I installed a VHF radio antenna on that mirror and used the existing hole. On the passenger side, you might want to consider a metal plate on the inside of the wall to secure and stabilize the mirror. Drill 4 holes (in the plate) then insert the mounting bolts. I did that on mine because the passenger side mirror is mounted on the thin fiberglass wall of the front cap and constantly vibrated so the mirror position was always moving.

Yeah that makes sense

So sounds like this is a common occurrence. I was driving through Idaho at night fat dumb and happy and looked to the right to use the mirror and it was gone. Made no sense cause I didn’t hit anything. And I took a couple of double takes thinking naw it’s there. Nope it was gone. Heard nothing when it departed
