I'm new to the forum and new to RVing. I have experience with remodeling though I understand it's a bit different in a moving vehicle versus a stationary home. ;) We purchased a used 2002 Fleetwood Discovery and, overall, it's in pretty good condition. We plan on doing a bit of updating to some of the interior items but are trying to keep it close to original as possible. We hope to do a lot of traveling while our daughter is young, hitting all the national parks along the way. Trying to figure out what we NEED to buy before taking our first big trip rather than just packing things for fear of not having it. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is doing, asking questions and learning along the way.

Since you’re not full-timing how about spend a weekend camped in it in the driveway or close park. That would be a way to get familiar with it and see what you really need while away from home.

We've taken a couple of short trips in the state just to get a feel for driving it, seeing what we need. We'll be taking a longer trip soon and we DO plan on spending a few days in it while it's parked in the driveway to get used to using the power while it's plugged in versus not. Right now trying to ensure that all the lights on the outside are working, replacing dark bulbs and cracked lens. A couple of our crank out windows in the bedroom won't stay shut so trying to figure out how to secure them so they stay shut while we're driving down the road. Our local RV shop was supposed to be looking for new gear boxes for us but hasn't gotten back with us yet.
