Hello,

Its Rick & Lisa and we recently purchased a used, 18 foot 2007 Explorer Scout that seems to be in relatively good condition - minus the water heater - doesn't work. The Schumacher power control panel also does not recharge the trailer battery - no big deal here. The roof is also in reasonably good condition. No water line leaks anywhere so it must have been adequately winterized every year. And the air conditioning unit cranks out plenty of cold air.

I will say it right now though I may change my mind later - this is likely all of the camper we will ever need. It has all the comforts of home that I think (???) we will ever need and it is a small camper that is easily pulled and maneuvered around campgrounds. And at about 4100 pounds, our truck easily pulls it in tow-haul mode and the electric trailer brakes work very well.

I have already learned a lot from lurking around this site and I've watched lots of camping and RV related videos. I was an avid Scout leader camper with my oldest son Eagle scout and then my grandson so its not like camping is unknown here - and I still have all of that equipment.

I have been unable to get the all propane Suburban model SW6P water heater pilot light to light. There is plenty of gas pressure everywhere else in the trailer - stove, oven and trailer heater all work well. So I think I will soon be replacing the water heater gas valve. And that water heater tank anode drain plug was a major chore to remove but it finally came out with the use of some thread penetrant. Some antiseize compound on the threads will eliminate this problem in the future.

This used trailer came with absolutely zero documentation so I've been on an odysee quest to find and download the documents. My new binder for this trailer now has instructions for every system except the Schumacher Electric Corp Model “RVCDPC55” power control panel. Except for not keeping the trailer battery charged when on commercial power (should it???), the power panel supports everything else in the trailer. My multimeter indicates that every 12 volt output port on the printed circuit board works but I'd still like to have the documentation to round out my new instructional binder for the trailer.

Many thanks for letting us in.

Rick
