May have screwed up bought a rockwood 2509s travel trailer and was planning on towing with a yukon xl1500 with a towing capacity of 7000 lbs trailer dry weight is 5300 from what I read this won't work for towing now I have a trailer I can't pull

Maybe not. Check your payload as well as that is a critical area sometimes overlooked. Best way to know your weight is load it as you would travel and find a weigh station to get it weighed. I know, you have to get it to a weigh station! If you can also break down the weight of the items you would load on the trailer and calculate in, that’s the easiest way to be honest.

Payload, Payload, Payload. Tongue weight on the tow vehicle hitch is generally more important than trailer weight and tow capacity. You will exceed payload much sooner than tow weight capacity. Don't put weight in the back of the trailer to reduce tongue weight or you may be setting up to have an accident from fishtailing. Vehicle manufactures emphasize tow capacity, not payload and trailer manufactures emphasize dry weight and understate tongue weight.

This will answer all your questions and should be mandetory viewing for anyone buying an RV. Good luck!

What is the GVW of the trailer. it is on the tag on driver side of box. Should be at least on most rigs.
