Hello all, thanks for letting me join the group. I’m hoping to get some advice on towing. My father in law just sold his house and bought a 38’ EagleHT trailer with plans to park it on my property and live in it. The dealer is trying to sell him a $900 stabilizer set up saying it’s absolutely necessary. The trailer will most likely be moved only once a distance of about 3 miles and a friend of his with a truck says he’ll move it for him. The questions I have are 1. Is a stabilizer necessary? 2. If a stabilizer is necessary does $900 sound right? Because that sounds like a lot to me. 3. Can someone recommend a stabilizer? I appreciate any advice I can get.

If you have at least a 3/4 ton truck, I would move it the 3 miles without buying the stabilizer. If you ever travel you will need a large truck and the stabilizing hitch. $900 is not out of line these days. 600 TO 1000 is normal depending on brand.
