The water intrusion from the wheel wells into the wet bay. Has newmar solved that in the late year models?

2020 here. Driven in some pretty thick rain just this last trip in addition to a few other strong rainstorms - the kind where people put on their emergency flashers so you can see them. Never an issue. As always though YMMV

I did factory pickup. Mine had an issue with water coming in while driving in rain. Newmar had to add an extra rubber sweep to the bottom of the slide along with a strip of aluminum. That solved the issue.

My water was coming into the house area, as there was a large gap prior to the sweep installation.

Yowza!

That’s a new one. Wow.

The first 12-18 months I was lucky and didn’t drive in heavy rain. The last 12-18 I feel like I am always driving in rain and have found that the passenger bay directly in front of the rear wheels leaks a bit. I haven’t found obvious gaps in the seal or other possible sources so I’m stumped.

$1 if you get it Newmar will say they never heard of it before :) Okay, I'm sure they would acknowledge it, I just don't know why they don't make design changes like the fresh tank siphon issue. I do recommend new coach owners given the opportunity to drive in heavy rain and check the bays forward of the rear wheel wells for water intrusion. My 2017 had it and was fixed by a pretty extensive mod to the wheel wells of about 8+ hours of labor, under warranty. My pegboard was soaked.

Our 2017 had the issue, Newmar actually brought it up to me at the service center noticing water dripping under the coach. Water was not entering the coach or basement, it was going in what they called the dry bay, which is a large pan area under the Star Foundation (approx 4’x8). This area has insulation which was soaked. Newmar opened the area removed all insulation, left open for a week to dry, replaced insulation and installed pan resealed.

Now on our 2020 DS I have been looking for heavy rain to drive in before my warranty is over? but haven’t found any.

I have never seen any water intrusion in my rig, but sprayed Flex Seal on the inside/forward area of my wheel wells to prevent it from happening.

At Mothership, they looked and looked for how the water gets into the pegboard bay, rain bay for 30 minutes, not entry. The flex seal idea is a good one, pictures so I know exactly where to spray it, It only happens on the passenger side, and again, only in the rain.
