Probably should have paid more attention to school science.

We are full time and we need to defrost every 4 - 6 weeks. Trays of ice takes about 24 -36 hours to get 4 trays solid. This means we are adding moisture very each time we make ice. Not a problem but I was wondering if we got a portable counter top ice machine would that increase time between defrosting?

My mind tends to wander frequently.

sounds more like you have a bad door seal.

Well maybe! I would guess the real problem is retrieving ice, not the making if it.

I would agree if it takes that long to make ice on a regular basis there is a potential for a bad door seal as you mentioned have to defrost very frequently.. My next question would be how often are you opening the doors, These fridges do not work like a regular fridge and take a long time to recover after opening the doors. You may want to add a small circulation fan to see if that helps cooling,
