Trying to locate a campground near Omaha as we wanted to make a visit to the Henry Dooley Zoo. Other than the KOA, it seems every state or local campground in the area is booked on a First-Come, First-Served basis.

I don’t understand how anyone can possibly plan around that. Of course, the few that aren’t are booked out to infinity and beyond.

any one have any recommendations?

I stayed at a CG west of Omaha, I can't remember the name, I tried searching and am not sure BUT it was the first come first serve. I called the camphost to get info on the situation, availability, etc. I called the camphost the morning of and inquired again and they blocked a site for me as I was enroute that day. It was awesome, around $16/day with 50A service and a dump station.

I spent a week in Fremont, but that's a little farther west. $20/night, BUT it was a parking lot type with no sewer or wifi. Neal, IF you remember the place that would be great. My son is living in Omaha.
