We searched long and hard for a travel trailer that was 1/2 ton towable (more on that later) and designed for couples only, no kids so no need for bunks and other considerations for the young un's. . After extensive research and a ton of viewings, we landed on a Grand Design Imagine 2500 RL. Can't put my finger on exactly what it was that made it stand out over other units, but it drew us back every time. We took possession of it in late May, and have spent every weekend since going anywhere we could find to learn about using it and living with it--and have literally enjoyed every minute. The relaxation we get from just being in it is fantastic. The trailer grows on us the more we use and experience it. Never thought we'd enjoy it as much as we already do.
There are only a few issues that need to be addressed, and they are far from serious:
  • The foam in the dinette cushions is absolutely too soft for this application--you sink to the base of it immediately and find the back of your knees pushing into the edge of the base cabinetry. We don't weigh that much! Of course this is similar to other models out there but we didn't really notice until we used it. Replacing with a firmer foam we just ordered.
  • The only exterior storage is in the front pass thru so there is a tendency to want to load too much weight in the nose. We've been putting as much as possible in the rear living area to balance things out for travel. Works fine.
  • Added some bump-stops to bedroom cabinets to keep from having metal cabinet openers hit the wall directly.
  • Added an upgraded battery monitor to keep closer tabs on our upgraded battery pack-we enjoy dry camping and the standard one just doesn't provide enough useful information.
  • Would like to upgrade the rest of the tank monitor system--its readings are sketchy at best. Not a deal-breaker though.
  • Would like an easier adjustment method for the Lippert Sturdy Stair system--changing the height of those legs is a good deal more work than I think should be necessary.

Purchased the 2020 2500RL in October. Love the unit although we have not taken it on a trip longer than a weekend. In the market for a reliable generator that doesn’t cost like the Honda. Any recommendations?

I purchased the Firman WHO3242 ( https://www.costco.com/firman-3200w...uel-inverter-generator.product.100843922.html ). a great generator with lots of power. it works on propane and gas. I built a connector to connect directly to the RV exterior propane line. Often this generator is $200 off @ costco.
