With all this extra time on my hands (and the arrival of warm, sunny weather), I replaced the "outdoor shower" setup in the wet bay with a nice mixing valve that has a swivel spout and standard garden hose threads. This will make it easy to get water to flush the black tank. I've ordered an 18" hose to make that connection and will use quick-disconnects I have on hand to make things easy to use. Photos below.

Note the proximity of the "sewage rinse" connection; black quick-connect fitting to the right of the new valve.

I used the base section of the existing plastic valve mount, discarding the extension piece. To provide some additional rigidity to the plastic wet bay cover piece, I bonded 8" lengths of 1/8"x1" aluminum strips on the back side, using 3M automotive double-sided adhesive tape.

The parts used were:

Wall Mount Faucet: TS Brass B-1115-LN Chrome Wall Mount Faucet - Touch On Kitchen Sink Faucets - Amazon.com

Gooseneck spout: TS Brass 131X Swivel Gooseneck Spout, Chrome - Touch On Kitchen Sink Faucets - Amazon.com

Garden hose adapter: Amazon.com: T&S Brass B-GFE Garden Hose Outlet: Home Improvement

When the spout is swung out toward the bay door, it just barely clears with the door closed. Swiveled in, it clears easily. I think this is the solution I have been looking for; a durable mixing valve with a garden hose thread. We never used the OEM "outdoor shower" for anything other than filling a pail for washing the front of the coach. It was useless for providing water to the sewer flush connection.

@TJ&LadyDi beautiful mod and thank you for including the links. I have two questions...where did you get that black tank rinse quick connect and is there anything special about it? Second you have a wall plate below the paper towel holder...what does that do?

Sheridan:

The right-angle quick-disconnect is available here...

They now only offer the 90-degree version; mine is the now-discontinued 105-degree version that I really like as it angles slightly away from the panel. The 90-degree version will work fine, however.

The "wall plate below the paper towel holder" is my tank status display panel. In the MADP (and other models), Newmar included a display in the wet bay showing the levels of each tank (fresh, gray & black). Very handy when using the Sani-Con.

It's well worth it though, isn't it? Being able to get good water pressure and actually make use of it is great.

Nice mod; it’s on my list to do, too. I second the Kwik Link disconnects...I have them, too and they are brilliant.

I have ordered the parts for this. Question: Could i use this set up to connect a pressure washer to wash the coach? I already have an expensive mod with a plumbed in PW and a deionizer tank in the passenger side front bay that takes up a fair amount of space. For my next coach I’d rather have a portable light washer and the same deionizer tank that I can hook up to this Spigot and save the real estate.

I don't see why not, Sheridan. There is no flow restrictor in the valves that I can see and the spout is at least 1/2" ID. With the hose thread adapter installed on the spout, you can connect any standard hose or accessory.

Sheridan, TJ is right. Once you get rid of the sad original setup you should easily see 3+gpm (assuming good source volume/pressure) easily enough for your pressure washer. You should be able to use either your water pump or shore source.

I kind of wish I had thought that one through a little more before I did the plumbed install. Live and learn.

If I send you LadyDi's e-mail address, would you be willing to tell her "TJ is right?" I think it might be the first time. :ROFLMAO:

Great Job, but, even though there is anti syphon valve built in, I don't want any indirect connection to the poop tank and my fresh water supply period. I will continue to use the Y connector on the parks provided water system, separate AS valve, pressure regulator and hose to flush tank system.

I get that the OEM outside shower is almost useless for anything, and so changing to what you did is an option I will consider. But if I am someplace where potable water is supplied, I will just use that water/bucket/lambs wool mitt to wash front of coach. If I'm without PW, than it takes forever to fill bucket with OEM shower, but that does not happen enough for it to be major concern.

You do excellent work. Have Fun!

What makes you think a "Y connectior" is not an "indirect connection to the poop tank?" It is actually a direct connection.

Any time you have a common feed point (regardless of Y fittings, valves, backflow preventers, etc.), you still have a continuous (direct) connection. The built-in backflow preventer on the tank flush input prevents a contaminating reverse flow. Your use of a second backflow preventer is not a bad idea, but doesn't change the fact that there is still a theoretical direct connection to the fresh water source.

I always get a kick out of the argument that a ”Y” connector 25’ farther from the coach is any safer than one at the coach. Here is my setup using a second back flow preventer:

It is only connected when I’m flushing the tank and I never leave the wet bay while I’m flushing.

Clean-looking install, @J&JD! Do you have a link to the source for the external backflow preventer you used. I might want to add the second one as a double-check in case the OEM were to fail.
