Greetings all! Has anyone encountered problems when reroofing the '94 Kountry Aire? As a full-timer for the last 8 years, I purchased a 1994 Kountry Aire a year ago to replace a 1987 Pace Arrow. The transaction was local, off-market, and amenable with a pristine interior (plastic still covering the carpet) and reasonable miles for the age. I didn't purchase the rig with the intention of using it for travel.
The original vulcanized roof membrane was compromised / missing in spots due to mold, moss and UV so my RV contractor cleaned the roof, removed the membrane, and proceeded to reroof using TPO, with appropriate caulking and seals ... with the exception of overlooking the need to replace the lower seals/gaskets for the two Duo-Therm heat pumps.
A few ensuing leaks had us tarp the the roof over the winter, we removed the tarp in early March and remained leak free until later this Spring when we started to use the AC and our typical rainy season began. RV guy replaces the seals/gaskets for the AC units however we are still experiencing random leaks.
At this point, both my contractor and I are flummoxed and he is preparing to redo the whole job. As TPO can be effectively heat-seamed when doing a residential/commercial roof, I've suggested my contractor consider using shorter lengths of the TPO as opposed to a single membrane. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome!
Thank you!
