We are transitioning from Yachting to RVing with most of our future use of the RV, weekend getaways until we retire in 5 years, after then we will probably take longer excursions out of state. We are looking at motor coaches in the 40 foot range and are wondering just how competitive it is to find camp sites for 40 foot verses 37? I am sure I have heard for years that finding accommodations for 45 foot coaches is problematic but how about 37 or 40 footers. We live near Vacaville Ca and plan to mainly visit the coast both north and south of SF bay area.
Thanks

I dont think you‘ll have much of a problem up to 40’ when looking for campsites, because you’ve already ruled out the smaller campgrounds. And you really wont see any difference between 37’ and 40’. Ive found its more a question of under 30’ vs over 30’.

At 35’ there are times when it takes some effort to get into places I where want to camp, such as some state parks, and some places I just have to pass on. But of the campgrounds I can get into with a normal amount of effort, the majority could also accommodate 40’.

I don’t venture south of SF often, but I do like the North Coast from Bodega Bay on up to Westport and beyond, there are plenty of CGs that can accommodate 40’. Just make reservations because otherwise it can get a bit frustrating, especially south of Ft. Bragg.
