Okay, in the Air Force days when there was an accident we stood down and had a safety day. It's time for a RV safety day so stop and take note.

In the Newmar Owners Group on Facebook today was a post about a truck driver lady that was on the phone with her husband and mentioned she thought she hit someone. That was the last he heard from her, she got out and was beaten to death. Apparently this is what's going on these days, tossing objects in front of trucks to get them to stop, in our delightful peaceful well behaved youth so well raised by their strict parents. I digress...

So, it's only a matter of time before this happens to a RVer because you know we are the opposite of these thugs that have nothing to lose. Your armament will mean nothing against the numbers that may be against you. In the current times you better be very smart about where you're driving and when you're driving AND where you're staying. Truckers are attracting this attention, better think twice about being in the same area they are. We've seen it on TV, the media is not reporting this "peaceful protest" (murder).

After Nov it could get better but my guess is it's going to get far worse. Until people get back to work, covid or no covid and are no longer being paid to be thugs by the government will this improve.

So I say again, learn from the trucker story posted on Facebook by a Newmar RV owner and stop and think about this NOW! We may feel pretty lucky that we have the ability to travel and vacation because we have RV's. We, when traveling, are putting ourselves in harms way. Don't be complacent thinking well I'm just going here to there. Be AWARE. While I don't use WAZE for RV navigation, it can be good in telling you of situations ahead. Not sure what situations it is helping with other than police, accidents, traffic etc. but it may be worth having running along side your GPS for road awareness. It doesn't have to be navigating a route to tell you this information.

I recently got a RAM mount with suction cup for my phone which goes on the glass left of me and is left of my Garmin GPS I use for navigation. You may want to consider a phone mount as well and bring up waze while traveling as an idea.

Drive safe and be smart. As I mentioned months ago, if you have to take a longer route around a populated area, do so! Keep rural!

I always have my phone on the left window running Waze together with the Garmin RV On the dash.
Couple of years ago I suggested on one of the forums IRV2 I think, that App should be made to help people avoid certain Bad areas. Just like Waze, people should be able to report in real time dangerous areas and events.
Waze would be ideal, but Google would not do it, being afraid it can offend their friends on the left.

Good points, @Neal. We have long used the mantra in our extended family of "If you put yourself in a bad place, bad things are likely to happen." It has been drilled into our kids and grandkids since day 1. The point is, avoiding trouble is probably your first line of defense against it.

Keep your eyes and ears open for trouble spots and avoid them. If you do get caught in one, stay inside the coach and call 911, if possible. If you have CB or Amateur Radio capability put out a "May Day" call. Do whatever you can to summon aid.

Using force against force should be an absolute last resort and you need to realize that it probably won't change the outcome. Don't worry about damage to the RV, that can be fixed or the unit replaced. The same cannot be said for loss of life.

There are no politicians in charge of my life! God has that handled.

However, He does use governments and authorities here and, theoretically, we have a say in who does the governing, at least for now, theoretically.

Oh yeah, He does use all things ("governments and authorities" included) to accomplish His purposes; even when we don't have the vision to see the big picture or select good leaders. Knowing that helps keep us grounded.

Smith and Wesson are my friends. I never leave home without them. From most of the protest videos I've seen these little twerps will run or start screaming and crying at the first sign of resistance. They expect everyone to be scared of them. I hope they don't make the mistake of trying to come inside my RV. ?

Our FL Governor R Desantis has introduced a bill that increases the penalties for these idiots. Also if they surround your car and start threatening you, you are allowed to power thru them. Here are two excerpts:
  1. Prohibition on Obstructing Roadways: 3rd degree felony to obstruct traffic during an unpermitted protest, demonstration or violent or disorderly assembly; driver is NOT liable for injury or death caused if fleeing for safety from a mob.
  2. Prohibition on Harassment in Public Accommodations: 1st degree misdemeanor for a participant in a violent or disorderly assembly to harass or intimidate a person at a public accommodation, such as a restaurant.
