I was traveling east on I-40 just west of Nashville when I found myself underneath a storm cell that paced me all the way to just west of Knoxville. It was a little nerve wracking to say the least. It was one of those storms where traffic was traveling 55 in a 70 to maintain visibility with a few pulled off to the side.

Every half hour or so there would be a traffic jam due to an accident. In every case, it was a young driver in a small car who obviously lost control and slammed into a guardrail and/or another vehicle. I was young once, and learned several hard lessons as well. I’m glad I’m past that now. Maybe.

Early morning deep thoughts…by Neemer.

We all learn lessons, some are more expensive than other lessons..

They should be trained never to use cruise control in wet weather. Yes, hydroplaned at 80 moh when I was young. Fortunately, it was a great car, even though it could not go very fast. Always star young fols off in a slow car. Anyhow I just gentlely let up off of the accelerator and it would sit right back down on the road.

I shared some of this in another post, but we just went from Florida to central Illinois and used almost all secondary and/or US Highways. It may have been more miles but it was much more relaxed staying off the interstates and avoiding all the major cities.

We still had to use I-75 to get out of Florida but that was about it. It seems that every year these driver's get more aggressive and less skillful. I'm not sure why they are all in a hurry, most of them never went back to work after covid anyway!

I had a friend when I was young whose first car was a Mustang (mid 1990s). He wrecked it within a month.
