My steps (Coach Steps / see picture) stopped working suddenly. In my diagnosing the problem I have a dilemma...to determine if the (magnetic) door switch is defective I'm told to cross (put together) the two wires. The only way I know how to do this is to cut the wires. Then if it's not the (door) switch... well, you get the idea. Anyone have a better idea ? 😉

You should be able to unplug the switch and then use a piece of wire to jumper the wires. Trace the wiring that you can and find the closest plug to jump.

Those switch’s seldom go bad. When mine went bad it too was sudden. It ended up being the motor. My bad habit was not waiting until the steps were all the way extended before stepping on them. There should also be a controller near the motor.

Check the wires going to the switch. With all the pot holes in the roads it's possible that one of the wires came loose.
