I just bought a GD 5th wheel, gross weight weight 15000 lbs. I will tow with a 2022 Ford 2500 with their 5th wheel towing package. Will I need brakes installed on my 5th wheel?

They usually have electric or hydraulic brakes on them

I would think that a rig weighing 15,000 lbs would have brakes. You would need a good brake control unit on your truck if it didn't already come with one in the "towing package."

Most if not all state laws require brakes on anything over 2000#.

I wouldn't want to have an accident without a working controller.

I suspect your truck has a brake controller, especially if it has a 7-pin plug for a trailer.

It can be "wired for" without a brake controller. But the job is much easier.
